The No-Fail Way to Find a Good Remodeling Contractor

There are lots of ways to find home improvement contractors. You could use an obvious method, such as doing an online search for contractors in your area (the modern version of looking in the Yellow Pages).  You could watch for ads in the newspaper or local television channels. Or maybe you could even try cruising the neighborhood, ready to pounce at the first sight of scaffolding.

While there’s a chance any of these tactics may work to varying degrees, none of them are the most effective option. There is one method of finding a good contractor that is virtually guaranteed never to fail.

This secret weapon this method relies on? Word of mouth. The best way to find a contractor is to ask friend, neighbors and family members for recommendations of contractors they have used with good results.

There are several benefits to finding a contractor this way. For one thing, you’ll be able to easily avoid any fly-by-night outfits that have just set up shop and have no track record in your area. You can also get a firsthand tour of the contractor’s work by checking out the finished product in your friend’s home.

One valuable advantage of using recommendations to locate a contractor is that you can get critical “inside information” from someone with firsthand experience with their work. This is an opportunity to ask about things like the contractor’s communication style, how quickly they completed the job and any quirks or concerns you may need to be aware of.

At RW Remodeling, we get much of our business from recommendations (and repeat customers). We encourage you to ask around—we’re proud of our reputation, and we think you’ll like what you hear.
